Going Luddite :-)

sazius at

I turned off my Nextcloud some time ago. I plan my work in a paper notebook, and use an old fashioned paper calendar. My address book is just locally on my devices (of course backed up). I don't use email on my phone so that works out surprisingly well.

I use Syncthing for syncing a few files between my phone and laptop, which doesn't require a server. The only thing still running on my server is this pump.io instance. I'm afraid when my server dies (it's a pretty old computer) I won't be replacing it.

I guess I'm getting old and going Luddite :-)

The way the "common" technology is evolving, and how creepy everything is these days, this is probably the only sane thing to do =)

Yeah, that's a big part of it. Also being parent to a small child means I have much less time to devote to being a sysadmin for my stuff :-)

syncthing sounds interesting .. its annoying having to go to the play store to get an ssh server app so i can do scp,
why isn't there one on f-droid?

theres a client there but thats less useful because typing on phones is too annoying.
